Colorado Springs Therapists

Dr. Inga Thors, Psy.D.

I am a therapist in Colorado Springs specializing in adults and teens with anxiety and OCD. I love my work as an anxiety specialist because I can create a safe environment in which people reduce their anxiety and improve their quality of life with techniques that have been proven to be successful.

I did not take the typical path to become a therapist. Before entering my doctoral program, I worked as a human resource consultant/manager for 12 years in Iceland focusing mainly on organizational psychology. Throughout my professional and personal life, my passion has always focused on supporting individuals through challenges and transitions. I switched career paths and became a therapist because I wanted to be of more direct help to people to improve their lives.

I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Iceland and my master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. In my clinical career, I have worked in a myriad of settings including a private clinical practice, community-based clinics, schools, university counseling centers, a correction facility, a hospital, and in homes. My professional experience, 20 years of marriage, 3 kids, 2 dogs and 2 parrots, 6 addresses in 2 countries and a doctorate in psychology puts me in a unique position to help clients who want to learn practical skills to manage their anxiety and OCD.

Growing up in another country and being a speaker of four languages, I have been exposed to different cultures and a variety of family systems, which has given me a greater appreciation and understanding of the complexities of working with individuals and families with both diverse backgrounds and views on mental health.

When I am not working, I love to spend time with my partner, my three kids (19-year-old twin boys and 9-year-old daughter) … and our dog Loki.
